HR migration planning
Define what should move before committing to how it moves.
Veritas can review representative source data, the workflows you want to introduce and the validation ownership required. We do not present a self-service bulk importer or transfer method as available unless it is confirmed for your implementation.
Migration principle
Do not move disorder into a new system.
Historical volume is not the same as operational value. Planning starts with the current workflow, retention need and reporting requirement. It then identifies what may need correction, what can remain in a controlled archive and which transfer routes still require technical confirmation.
Planning stages
A visible route from source review to a decision-ready brief.
- 01
Inspect and scope
Identify source systems, representative files, record ownership, retention needs and the workflows to be introduced.
- Output
- Agreed scope and exception list
- 02
Map requirements
Identify candidate source fields, gaps, duplicates and incomplete values against the workflows that would use them.
- Output
- Draft field map and preparation questions
- 03
Confirm a supported route
Decide whether information would be entered manually, prepared through an agreed template or transferred through a separately confirmed technical route.
- Output
- Written route, exclusions and responsibilities
- 04
Agree validation and delivery
Define the checks, authorised approver, exceptions and go or no-go criteria before any transfer or launch work begins.
- Output
- Scoped implementation decision
Representative scope
Map data to the workflows that will use it.
These are candidate areas for scoping, not a promise that every source field will be transferred.
- People and structure
- Employee identifiers, work details, departments, roles and reporting relationships.
- Leave and absence
- Policy context, relevant balances, current requests and open records where agreed.
- Documents and onboarding
- Required assignments, current completion position and active starter information.
- Leavers and history
- Operationally necessary status, dates and retained records within the agreed boundary.
What we need from you
A data owner, representative source files and a decision route.
Migration planning cannot be completed by the supplier alone. Your organisation should name an authorised owner who understands the source, can resolve questions and can approve any later validation result.
Questions and answers
HR system migration FAQs
Do we have to migrate every historical HR record?
No. Planning should start with what is operationally useful, what must be retained and what can remain in a controlled archive. Records should move only after the transfer method and validation scope have been confirmed in writing.
How long does migration take?
Timing depends on source quality, employee count, the workflows being introduced and whether a supported transfer method is available. Veritas can scope the work after inspecting representative data; this page does not promise a standard duration or bulk-import facility.
Who approves the migrated information?
A named person in your organisation should own the source data and approve any validation plan and result. Veritas can structure the planning work, but your authorised owner confirms whether information is fit for operational use.
Start with evidence
Bring a representative export, not the entire archive.
We will use it to identify the likely field map, gaps, owners and validation work before a migration scope is agreed.
